What the site is

TSP Tools is a free planning aid: it replays plans against published share prices, shows fund figures computed from the same prices, and spreads contributions over pay dates according to published rules. It is offered as is, for information, to adults who manage their own retirement savings. Not affiliated with the TSP, FRTIB or any federal agency. Nothing on the site is reviewed, endorsed or supplied by them.

Not advice

Past performance does not predict future returns. This is not investment advice. Nothing here is investment, tax, legal or financial advice, and nothing here takes account of your circumstances. Every visitor sees the same tools and the same figures; nothing is prepared for you in particular. The person who runs the site is not a financial adviser, broker or fiduciary and does not act as one. A contribution plan is an estimate; your payroll office applies your election and does the final rounding. Decisions about your TSP account are yours, and you should confirm anything that matters with the official source or a qualified adviser. The leaderboard ranks saved plans by what they did in the past; a high place is a fact about history, not a recommendation to follow the plan.

Accuracy

Every effort is made to use the official prices unchanged and to cite every rule to its source with the date it was read; the methodology page shows the result. Even so, data can be late, a rule can change after it was read, and software can have bugs. The site may be wrong, and it may be unavailable.

Acceptable use

• Use the site for your own planning and share links freely.
• Do not flood it: the save and upload routes are rate limited, and working around those limits or scraping the site at a pace that degrades it for others is not allowed.
• Do not try to reach the upload route or any other part of the site you are not meant to use.
• Do not present a result from this site as official TSP, FRTIB or IRS information.
• Do not copy the site's wording, design or code to another site or product without the owner's written permission. Linking to any page is always welcome.
• Use the contact form only to write to the person who runs the site. Do not send anything unlawful, abusive, deceptive or commercial, do not send messages by script, and do not include anyone's private details.

The owner may remove a saved plan, or block an address, that breaks these terms, without notice.

Content and code

The wording, design and code of the site are original work of its owner. Share prices are public data published by the TSP; statutes, regulations and IRS notices are public documents. A saved strategy is a short list of months and funds, which the site treats as public and does not claim ownership of. "Thrift Savings Plan", "TSP" and the fund names are the names the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board gives its plan and funds; they appear here only to say what the site is about.

Links to other sites

Links to tsp.gov, irs.gov, govinfo.gov and other sites are provided for checking the sources. Those sites are not controlled by this one and have their own terms.

No warranty and limited liability

The site is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. To the fullest extent the law allows, the site's owner is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the site or reliance on anything in it, including investment losses, lost agency contributions, tax consequences, or the site being unavailable. Where the law does not allow an exclusion above, it applies as far as the law does allow. If you are unhappy with the site, the remedy is to stop using it.

Changes

These terms may change; the review date at the top moves when they do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. These terms, with the privacy and cookies pages, are the whole agreement between you and the site's owner about the site.
